Deborah Harry Records First Solo Album For 15 Years
by Paul Cashmere

Blondie's Deborah Harry will soon release her sixth solo album and first new album in 15 years.

'Necessary Evil' follows up the 1993 release 'Debravation' although Debbie has thrown a couple of Blondie albums in between.

Her longtime partner Chris Stein has contributed to two songs 'Jen Jen' and 'Naked Eye'.

About the new album, Debbie said in a statement "Each song is not about one thing in particular. Each one has flavors of other experiences, an amalgamation of things. Some of the lyrics are autobiographical, and some are just observations or listening to other people's stories, things I've read, just everything. That's what art is. You're like a sponge, this kind of receptor, a radio antenna receiving all these different waves that swarm around and come out in a song."

"It's exciting to be doing this on my own, but chilling and weird at the same time," she admits. "In a way, I will be out there without a safety net. The comfort level with Blondie is great, but in most cases, the audience wants to hear the old music from us, rather than the future, and that is death for an artist. You have to keep moving forward."

'Necessary Evil' will be released on October 9, 2007.

The tracklisting for the album is:

1. Two Times Blue
2. School for Scandal
3. If I Had You
4. Deep End
5. Love with Vengeance
6. Necessary Evil
7. Charm Redux
